What's for dinner?

So, I'm having a dinner party this evening with two other couples. Long, long time friends. 30 plus years. We've all endured. Thank heavens!

Right now I'm taking a break. Hubby has been gone all day to help his friend on the continuation of the shed raising. It has been nice because I was able to clean the house and make some things in advance. My friends will arrive in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Hubby should be on his way home. I hope!!!

The table is set in a festive kind of way!

What's on the menu? I'm making a Presidential Roast which is this superb cut of meat from the local store. There will be gravy because....I love gravy! I will be tossing up a simple salad for those who might want one. My friend, Janie, is making green bean casserole (you know - that holiday fave). Susan is bringing wine.

I made my favorite 3 cheese scallop potatoes. Let me tell you, this dish is worth the effort and it has gotten so much easier to make over the years. Even the pickiest eater loves these potatoes. Do they look tasty?

For dessert I made an apple pie from scratch! Another fall favorite. I apologize for the bad lighting.

Well, I'd better get back to it. I've prepped some snacks for before the meal and I still have to toss up the salad. Then....I can relax. I'm getting kind of hungry. Those potatoes smell really good!

Have a great weekend.
