After Nancy left yesterday I decided to check e-mails, blogs, etc. I was so very excited to discover that I had won one of the patterns on Amy's blog (During Quiet Time). Basic Grey was giving her 5 new patterns and allowing her to draw 5 names at random.
I never win anything so this was pretty darn exciting for me. So thank you to Amy for having the giveaway and to Basic Grey for their generosity. I can't want until it comes in the mail.
Nancy sent me a picture of the Tokyo Subway Map all sewn together. She plans to quilt it today, I believe. I'm pretty sure she is going to do straight line quilting in white. I think there will be some excited bidders at the auction for her quilt.
I had to take my car to get inspected this morning and I also wanted them to check on a speaker that has been crackling. I could not believe I was there for over 2 hours. People were coming in and getting checked out but I was still sitting there for a silly little inspection. I was a tiny bit irritated but I was reading my Kindle. The car passed inspection and they are getting me a new speaker. Huh!!! That means I'm going to have to go back. I am not looking forward to that at all.
So I worked on laying out the rows for the lasagna quilt. I've taken a picture so I can look at it and assess the rows. It really is too bad that I don't have a design wall long enough to hold all the rows.
I have to say that I am not fond of this quilt. As I look at the pictures I can see it will drive me crazy to make the rows look good. Needs work, that's for sure. I don't find making quilts like this fun. They are fast but I find them boring for some reason.
Nancy and I are taking a refresher hand quilting class at our LQS next week. I am really looking forward to that. I loved the process when I learned it 23 years ago. It has been a while (yep, 1989) and I have old eyes but I'm hoping to find a renewed interest in the process. I see so many hand quilted little projects on the internet and hopefully this will be my jumping off point.
I think that is about it for now. Hope you are all having fun.
