What's been going on?

Let's see....instead of having a busy day at the Hive last Wednesday, Nancy and I went refrigerator shopping. That was fun! hehe Thank goodness she has one working fridge at her house since the main one died! Then we went to Panera for lunch! That was good.

On Saturday, we jumped on Nancy's bus (Nancy, me and Sue, our fave LQS owner) and went to West Newbury, MA for the monthly meeting of the Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild. (note to self....must get a button for the blog). Of course, I missed the first meeting which I've been kicking myself about ever since. It is okay....it is all good and the 3 of us are now official members of the Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild.

We had a guest speaker. A pretty fabulous guest speaker. Alissa Haight Carlton, co-founder and Executive Director of the Modern Quilt Guild. Lucky us.

It was very interesting to hear her talk about how she started as a quilter, the Modern Quilt Guild and its explosion of guilds around the country. As a long time quilter it is very interesting to hear how the newer quilters, heavily involved in the modern quilting world, are making quilts. Honestly, it was mindblowing to hear Alissa talk but at the same time rather liberating. Imagine...just cutting, sewing and seeing how things fit! No pattern, quilting giant quilts on the home machine. Amazing.

If nothing else, we all came away inspired as heck from the meeting. I'm not sure I will be making large, gynormous quilts in solid fabrics but I can see myself making smaller ones. I love me a good print but I am interested in exploring the solids. 2013 might be an evolving year.

Unfortunately I will have to miss the December meeting but my excuse this time is a heck of a lot better than the last time. I'm bummed about it but arrangements were made long before I knew there was a meeting so I'll just suck it up.

Today is election day. I have not received any phone calls today and I am so thrilled about that. Not that I answer any of these calls but this has been a rather annoying year for them.

I did get an embroidery project together to stitch and did start the stitching this afternoon. So I'll be doing that and watching election results tonight. Nancy is coming over tomorrow and I'll try to get some machine sewing done.

It has been freezing here. I mean downright cold. Highs of 40 degrees. I drove to the store at 3:40 and the temp was 37 in my car. That seems ridiculous. They are talking snow for Thursday. I'm not ready...I'm really not ready.

Okay....that's enough jabbering from my end. I'll be back later in the week. Hopefully with pictures of productivity!!!
